The intersection-improvement project underway at Ela Road and Route 12 in Lake Zurich has been postponed until spring, county officials said.
The project, which began in August, was delayed when workers discovered a utility conflict on a corner of the intersection. The delay put the project enough off schedule for officials from the Lake County and Illinois departments of transportation to lose confidence in completing the job before winter.
Crews may continue work on a retaining wall on one corner of the intersection until weather forces them to stop, county officials said.
Work will resume sometime in the spring with excavation, the building of a right-turn lane, and installation of new traffic signals.
