Vernon Hill extends disposal contract with Advanced Disposal

Garbagetruck

The Village of Vernon Hills recently signed a five-year extension with Advanced Disposal for waste disposal services.

Most residents will see a slight decrease in collection fees with the new agreement that also includes guaranteed rate freezes in the coming year and again in 2018.

Yard waste will again be collected from April 1 through November 30. The price for yard waste stickers will drop from $2.22 to $2.00. Stickers can be purchased at the Village of Vernon Hills Village Hall, the Sullivan Center, Home Depot, Mariano's and Walgreens.

Advanced Disposal will continue curbside trash and recycling pickup and bulk item pickup for furniture and bulk trash. It will also continue offering its so-called white goods collection, which collects large appliances for an additional fee.

The company will operate year-round on a regular schedule, with the exception of New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Following holidays, pickup days will be moved back one day.
