Wadsworth approves stormwater ordinance, adopts tax estimate

Wadsworthsign

The Village of Wadsworth board of trustees held their regular meeting Nov. 17 at Village Hall.

The trustees began work on the tax levy process, agreeing on an estimated tax levy of $25,000. This marks a $1,800 increase from the previous year.

The board also approved Lake County's version of a new watershed development ordinance. The ordinance sets new development rules to keep the county's communities in compliance with federal standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency. In exchange for compliance, communities receive coverage under the National Flood Insurance Program.

The village continued its search for a consumer tracking consultant that would provide village officials with information on the purchasing habits of Wadsworth residents. One of those consultants, Buxton Companies, gave a presentation to the Committee of the Whole earlier in November, but village officials said they wanted to explore other options for comparison. The board gave Village Administrator Moses Amidei an end-of-the-year deadline to select a firm.

Snowmobilers will be allowed to cut through parts of village property this winter, after the board approved a request from the Northeastern Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs for trail space to supplement the existing trail network.

The board also agreed to allow Public Works workers to pick up discarded Christmas trees to support a bonfire as part of a winter event to be held in Wadsworth Park. Collection details will be sorted out at a future meeting.
