Highwood’s commercial waste hauling is now handled by Lakeshore Recycling Systems LLC as a result of the city’s previous hauler subcontracting the job.
Groot Industries assigned the existing contract to Lakeshore with the mutual understanding that the latter will immediately take over duties of the assignment starting New Year's Day and continue until the contract’s expiration date of April 30, 2017.
Existing customers can expect consistent service with no interruptions during the transition, with container exchange remaining scheduled for this spring. All existing equipment has been purchased by Lakeshore and will continue to be used; commercial billing switches over to Lakeshore during January. In a letter from LRS to business customers dated Dec. 20, 2015, the Lakeshore Recycling Systems team expressed excitement at being part of the Highwood community.
