Rankings, restaurants, rescue and resolutions all vied for the Vernon Hills Village Board’s attention at its 7:00 p.m. Tuesday meeting at 290 Evergreen Drive.

Following call to order, roll call and the Pledge, time was reserved for public comment, after which village officials presented their reports, including the village’s president, manager, assistant manager, finance director/treasurer, public works director/village engineer and building commissioner.

In his report, the chief of police introduced a fee-for-service animal care/control program in the form of an agreement between Vernon Hills and the Lake County Health Department and Community Center.

Omnibus items passed in unison included several bill voucher approvals; passage of resolutions for the animal care/control program, patrol cars and in-vehicle computers; ordinance amendments concerning liquor licenses; police rank; and outdoor dining facilities for Uncle Julio’s, an establishment at 850 North Milwaukee Ave.

Additional ordinances were endorsed for a Lake County watershed item and municipal golf course management along with approval for “Tootsie Pop Days,” a Lions Club fundraiser scheduled for May 2016.

After unfinished and additional business, the board approved minutes from its Jan. 19 meeting. Following new business and a closed session to discuss land acquisition, litigation and personnel matters, the meeting was adjourned.
