Zion City Council endorses amendments, updates calendar
Zion City Council’s agenda meeting 7 p.m. March 1 at City Hall covered grant permits, variances and amendments to municipal code.
Previous meeting minutes and billing items were approved, and an audit for FY 2014-2015 was filed. Ordinances consisted of amending municipal code sections pertaining to utility rates plus fee, fine and penalty regulations and granting a building variance and a special use permit for religious activity in a residential district.
Police Chief Steve Dumyahn presented a proposal to trade surplus firearms with a local FFL dealer, and Clerk Diane Burkemper brought up the topic of waiving a fidelity bond raffle application rule.
Bids were tabulated for a water main project at Hebron Avenue and 27th Street, and the council discussed capital improvements and its 2016-2017 goals.
Announcements included a notice of early voting at Zion City Hall slated for Feb. 29 through March 12, a reminder that Election Day is Tuesday and notices of Zion Township’s board meeting at 6:30 p.m. and Zion City Council’s meeting at 7 p.m. also on Tuesday.
Finally, it was noted that offices would be closed on March 25 for a city holiday.
