Civil War re-enactment to be held in Hainesville next weekend

The Northbrook Sports Club will host the village of Hainesville's Civil War Encampment and Battle Sept. 10-11.

According to www.hainesville.org, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the north end of the club's property on the southern extension of Hainesville Road across Route 120.

Military battles will be featured, as well as medical facilities, bivouacs, encampments and demonstrations from the era. Historic figures scheduled to be represented include the Lincolns, Ulysses Grant, Elijah Haines and Jefferson Davis. There also will be souvenir merchants and attendees in dress from the period, as well as presentations on local history. The public is encouraged to participate in cricket games during the event.

Admission is free, with free parking available at Prairieview School, 103 E. Belvidere Road, Route 120, in Hainesville. There will be a shuttle bus to take attendees to the venue from the school.
