Thanks to discussions between villagers and Barrington civic leaders, several infrastructure improvement plans were recently formulated while residents took advantage of the opportunity to meet with their board members.

The eight initiatives included road improvements ranging from highways, intersections and turn lanes to sidewalks and bike paths; retail openings; housing developments; and sewer system upgrades, according to the village’s website.

With craft brews, wine and spirits, Flesk Brewery is slated to open a tavern and taproom at the Ice House Mall this spring with a 75-person capacity. Ales, ciders and other beverages will distinguish its menu.

In housing news, The Reserve at Barrington gated community with 43 single-family homes is scheduled for construction; and luxury apartment communities will be established at 407 E. Main St. and at 101 W. Liberty St., with both facilities to include underground parking.

The village also recapped road enhancement plans on its website, noting intersection and traffic upgrades slated for Station and Cook streets; Dundee Road and Grove Avenue (including bike path modifications); and Hart Road and Route 14. Additionally, construction will facilitate traffic flow at the North Commuter Lot near Northwest Highway; and larger-scale projects are scheduled for Lake Zurich Road and Route 14.

Village officials expressed satisfaction with residents’ participation in discussions over the past few months.

“These were wonderful opportunities for the Village Board to get to know residents and answer any questions,” representatives on Barrington’s website said.
