Vernon Hills ranked 588th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The Village of Vernon Hills had the 588th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 124 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Vernon Hills was $21.04 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Lake County Gazette, Vernon Hills generated $553,573.50 in net sales from its 10 lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $336,751.50 in January 2015.

The Village of Vernon Hills is in Lake County, and has a population of 26,314, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Libertyville, Mundelein, Mettawa, Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Lincolnshire and Indian Creek.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $39,405.44.

Vernon Hills' top lottery retailer is Buckys Express #438 located at 294 IL-60, Vernon Hills, IL 60061.

Buckys Express #438 generated 18 percent of Vernon Hills' January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Lake County's sales that month, which was $14,777,040.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Lake County in 2015 were Wadsworth, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Antioch and Fox Lake.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
