Minutes for May 5, 2021.

REGULAR AGENDA

8.2 21-1026

Discussion on Renewable Energy Credits (RECs).

∙ The County currently purchases Renewable Energy Credits through our Direct Energy contract and currently maintains a rate that allows for 50 percent of the total electricity portfolio to be made of renewable energy.

∙ At a previous meeting, the Committee requested additional information related to RECs. Staff, with support from a representative of Standard Solar will provide information related to RECs.

Update on Lake County’s Solar Installation Initiative.

∙ In November, 2019, Lake County executed a Power Purchase Agreement and Lease for the purpose of advancing solar panel feasibility process for 10 proposed County sites.

∙ Staff has been working with WCP Solar, and Standard Solar on application and other State requirements to enter the Adjustable Block Program.

∙ A representative from Standard Solar will present current status of the initiative.

Discussion and presentation on the County’s Cafeteria as it relates to single use plastics.

∙ At previous committee meetings, members requested that staff look at options to eliminate single use plastics in the County’s cafeteria.

∙ A presentation will be provided summarizing the contract with the County’s vendor and options related to the elimination of single use plastics in the cafeteria operations.

Discussion on Lake County’s Sustainability Statement in Procurement.

∙ Lake County Purchasing has been reviewing the current sustainability statement issued in our procurements and researching best practices as it relates to possible update amendments.

∙ A presentation be provided with potential amendments and operational changes to Lake County’s procurement as it relates to our sustainability statement.
