Lake County Rising, an event aimed at ending violence against women, is set to take place at the College of Lake County. The gathering will feature a resource fair and a series of speakers.

According to a press release from the Lake County State's Attorney Office, the event will be hosted at the college's Grayslake Campus, specifically in auditorium A011. A resource fair is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., followed by the commencement of the program at 7 p.m.

Trey Baker, youth education coordinator for the Lake County Regional Office of Education, will be a key speaker at the event, as per another press release from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. In addition to his role as an educator, Baker serves as an ambassador for the Obama Foundation's My Brother's Keeper Alliance and his office collaborates with the State's Attorney's Gun Violence Prevention initiative.

Eric Rinehart, Lake County State's Attorney, is also slated to address attendees during the program. He will be accompanied by Damaris Lorta of A Safe Place and Sandra Blankston of his own office. Adding a touch of melody to proceedings, The Mundelein RUSH A Capella Choir is set to present a musical performance.

Lake County Rising is part of a larger global movement called One Billion Rising, which is dedicated to eradicating violence against women and girls worldwide. This information was shared in yet another press release from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. The "rising" event includes awareness and education programs, survivor support resources, and collaborations with social organizations such as Zacharias Center, Mano a Mano Family Resource Center, and A Safe Place.
