More than 500 families attended a Back-to-School Resource Fair on August 2 at Jefferson Middle School, an event organized by the Villa Park Area Early Childhood Collaborative. The fair offered school physicals, immunizations, registration for before- and after-school programs, vision screenings, community resource booths, and free school supplies.

The event was made possible through the efforts of several organizations. These included DuPage Early Childhood Collaboration, Teen Parent Connection, Xilin Association, DuPage Community Services (2-1-1), DuPage Health Coalition, DuPage Regional Office of Education (ROE), VNA Health Care, School District 45, Villa Park Public Library, Northeast DuPage Family and Youth Services (NEDFYS), Family Focus DuPage, Christ Church Lift Center, Outreach York, Easterseals, Tri-Town YMCA, Frida Community Organization and its Home Visiting program, Despertar Latino, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, Birth to Five Illinois Region 19, Metropolitan Family Services, People’s Resource Center, This Little Light, The Parkview Collective, New Hope Scouting (Cub Scout Pack 122 and BSA Troop 199), Glenhouse Food Pantry, The Salvation Army Oakbrook Terrace, Literacy DuPage, Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, World Relief Chicagoland and The Villa Park Early Childhood Collaborative.

A statement from organizers read: “Thank you to the Villa Park Area Early Childhood Collaborative, our generous donors, and the many community partners who made this event possible.”

Jefferson Middle School is part of the Villa Park School District 45. The district serves multiple schools in DuPage County including Ardmore Elementary School and Jackson Middle School. Further information about the district can be found at https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/.

According to recent data from the Illinois State Board of Education available at https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/, there are 224 teachers in Villa Park School District 45 with an average salary of $74,159. Women make up over four-fifths of teaching staff. There were no teachers with more than ten absences in a school year.
