Vernon Township Republicans Chairman Jay Swidler said that as President Donald Trump returns to the White House, America is embarking on a new era of economic growth and renewed hope under decisive leadership. Swidler made his statement to the Lake County Gazette on January 20.

“Today, a new dawn rises over America as Donald Trump marks a triumphant homecoming to the White House,” said Swidler. “With steadfast resolve, President Trump will champion American workers and industries, breathing new life into the heart of our economy. With bold action, he will secure our borders, restoring safety to our families and communities. Our great nation now marks the beginning of a new golden age; under the steadfast leadership of President Donald Trump, hope is on the horizon.”

According to Politico, Trump’s agenda includes mass deportations, sweeping tariffs, and an assertive foreign policy, potentially involving military interventions in Greenland and Panama.

Fox News reported that Trump signed executive actions to implement sweeping policy changes on inauguration day. Priorities include border security, energy reforms, cost-of-living reductions, and ending federal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. Actions include declaring a national border emergency, reinstating “Remain in Mexico,” building new border wall sections, and designating cartels as terrorist organizations. Trump will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, end offshore wind leases, and abolish the Green New Deal. These moves signal a historic shift toward restoring American sovereignty and government efficiency.

Swidler is the Chairman of the Vernon Township Republicans. He is a resident of Buffalo Grove and was first elected to the role of Chair in 2024. He greatly appreciates the chance to serve the party and the voters of Vernon Township. In his role, he is focused on boosting Republican voter turnout, growing the Party’s membership, and communicating the Party’s positions on issues that matter to Vernon Township voters.
