The Collinsville High School (CHS) Leadership classes concluded their 2024-25
Grand Gesture projects, donating a total of $6,400 to community groups.

The Grand Gesture projects serve as a capstone for CHS Leadership students,
who apply their learned skills to select a charitable organization and organize
a fundraising event.

CHS Leadership curriculum was developed by social studies teacher and student
council sponsor Kyle Gordon. The program aims to provide students with an
opportunity to study various aspects of leadership and then apply their
knowledge in leading a project.

This year, the third-hour class raised $2,000 for Covenant House, a nonprofit
organization assisting homeless teenagers in the area. The fifth-hour class
raised $4,400 for Prevent Child Abuse Illinois.
