CALL TO ORDER
At 12:28 PM Chair Katz called the meeting to order and asked for a roll call.
ROLL CALL

Commissioner Kris Byrnes
Commissioner Evan Witkowski
Members Absent: None
Staff Present: Assistant HR Manager Nick Barnes, Fire Chief Joe Schrage
Others Present: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Special Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners – April 4, 2025
Chair Katz requested a motion to approve the open and closed session Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the date of April 4, 2025.
Commissioner Witkowski motioned to approve the minutes, Commissioner Byrnes seconded.
On a voice vote:
Voting Yea: Chair Katz, Commissioner Byrnes, Commissioner Witkowski
Voting Nay: None
Abstain: None
Absent: None
Chair Katz declared that the motion passed.
CLOSED SESSION
Chair Katz requested a motion that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners close its meeting to the public pursuant to Section 2(c) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2(c)) for the purpose of discussing personnel matters.
Commissioner Witkowski moved to move to closed session, Commissioner Byrnes seconded.
On a voice vote:
Voting Yea: Chair Katz, Commissioner Byrnes, Commissioner Witkowski
Voting Nay: None
Abstain: None
Absent: None
Chair Katz declared that the motion passed.
At 12:29 PM the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners recessed the public portion of the meeting to meet in closed session.
Chief Schrage left the meeting at 5:30 PM. Commander Tony Galati entered the meeting at 5:30 PM.
Chair Katz reconvened the open session of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners at 6:15 PM and asked for a roll call.

CLOSED SESSION REVIEW
The Board interviewed candidates for Firefighter / EMT / EMT II and a candidate for Police Officer (Lateral).

ADJOURNMENT
Chair Katz entertained a motion by Commissioner Witkowski to adjourn the meeting.
