City of North Chicago Public Works Committee met Feb. 16

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Alderman Evans called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Jackson, Evans, Allen, Wray, Murphy, Brooks

Absent: Coleman

1. DISCUSSION OF A PROPOSAL FROM LAKELAND ELECTRIC & CONTROLS IN THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $7,210 TO FURNISH & INSTALL A NEW EATON PUMP CONTROLLER FOR ABBVIE PUMP NO. 4

Interim Public Works Director Bob Miller explained that in previous years the pumps failed but had been repaired and currently another pump failed. Awaiting the motor to be delivered but the controller is beyond repair. Lakeland was the lowest bidder at the time; however, the cost was $500 more than last year to replace the controller. The plan is to have by next year all four pumps repaired and fully operational and rebuilt.

Alderman Jackson asked for clarification on the number of pumps that needed to be repaired.

Mr. Miller explained.

Mayor Rockingham Jr. questioned if Lakeland was still the lowest bidder. Bob confirmed that all pricing was from 2 years prior and did not go back to the other companies because time was of the essence. Lakeland had been the vendor of choice for work at the Water Plant.

2. DISCUSSION OF TO EXTEND THE 2024 WATER TREATMENT PLANT (WTP) PAINTING PROJECT TO FY2026 IN THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $100,000 FOR BP & T CONSTRUCTION

Mr. Miller explained in 2024 there were bids for painting the interior of the Water Treatment Plant and offered to extend the contract for same contract with the same price-agreed of $100,000. Alderman Jackson asked is there a limitation of time or statutory requirement that indicates deadline of a bid.

Attorney Simon explained that since the scope of work was different the job required new bids.

Alderman Allen moved, seconded by Alderman Jackson that Public Works Committee

Meeting stand adjourned.

MOTION CARRIED
