Coal City Middle School is currently running a speedball unit in its sixth and seventh grade physical education classes. Mark Masters, the physical education teacher, said, “It is one of the student favorites.” Speedball is a game that combines elements from football, basketball, and soccer. Students can score by making a touchdown for one point, shooting a basket for two points, or scoring a goal for three points.
Eighth grade health students recently completed lessons on the five components of physical fitness and learned how to set fitness goals to improve their quality of life. They are now beginning discussions about nutrition.
