Davis Schneiderman, currently the Executive Director of the Krebs Center for the Humanities and Professor of English at Lake Forest College, has been appointed as the next president of Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. The decision was made by a unanimous vote from Ringling’s Board of Trustees on January 15. Schneiderman will take office on June 1, 2026.

Schneiderman has worked at Lake Forest College for over twenty years. He is recognized for his leadership roles, including serving as Krebs Provost and Dean of the Faculty. In these positions, he contributed to academic strategy development, long-term planning, and resource management across both academic and co-curricular areas. His efforts have focused on creating adaptable academic structures that respond to changes in disciplines and technology.

He recently led the establishment of the Krebs Center for the Humanities at Lake Forest College. The center operates as a public cultural institution that combines creative practice with technology and community engagement. It features a museum collection in a historic Italianate building and offers exhibitions, symposia, artist residencies, and community programs while partnering with various cultural organizations.

Schneiderman is also known nationally for his contributions to higher education at the intersection of creativity, technology, and humanities. He is an author and multimedia artist who regularly speaks at conferences.

Lake Forest College President Mike Sosulski commented on Schneiderman’s impact: “I have been privileged to know Davis for many years and have been consistently impressed by his innovative thinking and leadership at Lake Forest College and across higher education,” he said. “While he will be greatly missed, we congratulate him on this well-deserved appointment and wish him every success as president of Ringling College of Art and Design.”

Schneiderman will remain in his current position through the end of this academic year before moving to Ringling College this summer.
