Diamond Lake School District 76 announces e-learning day due to weather closure

All schools and offices in Diamond Lake School District 76 will be closed on Friday, January 23, due to forecasted weather conditions. The district announced that students and staff will follow the E-Learning plan and schedule for the day.

The decision to close schools was described as difficult. “Closing schools is never an easy decision. We recognize these decisions can create inconveniences for our families, however, prioritizing student and staff safety must always guide our actions and remains our highest responsibility. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility,” the district stated.

Diamond Lake School District 76 serves Lake County, including Fairhaven School, West Oak Intermediate School, and West Oak Middle School. More information about the district’s operations can be found at https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/.

According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 92 teachers with an average salary of $63,832 before pension contributions. Of these teachers, 91.4 percent are women and 8.6 percent are men; none have more than ten absences in a school year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

Student demographics show that Diamond Lake School District 76 is composed of approximately 20.4 percent White students, 2.8 percent Black students, 68.2 percent Hispanic students, and 5.3 percent Asian students (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
