Diamond Lake School District 76 released the March edition of its Diamond Edge newsletter on Mar. 31, highlighting recent academic achievements and upcoming events for families in the district.
The newsletter details that students from third to eighth grade have completed the Illinois Assessment of Readiness, with additional science assessments scheduled for certain grades. These assessments contribute to the Illinois Report Card, which will be published this fall. The district is inviting families to attend Registration Parent Night on April 7 at Diamond Lake School, where staff will guide parents through registration procedures for a smooth start to the next school year.
The district also reports that students recently participated in Whitsons Culinary Group’s “Mac Attack” event during lunchtime and continues to emphasize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports both at school and home. There is also a focus on responsible technology use and digital citizenship as part of ongoing efforts to promote safe online behavior.
Diamond Lake School District 76 represents Lake County and includes Fairhaven School, West Oak Intermediate School, and West Oak Middle School according to the Illinois Report Card. The district employs a total of 92 teachers who earn an average salary of $63,832 before pension contributions; women make up over ninety percent of faculty members. No teachers had more than ten absences in a school year according to data from the Illinois State Board of Education.
Student demographics show that Diamond Lake School District 76 is comprised of approximately twenty percent White students, nearly three percent Black students, sixty-eight percent Hispanic students, and just over five percent Asian students as reported by ISBE. In terms of finances, spending per student reached $27,115 in 2020 for a total expenditure nearing $25 million according to official records.
Chronic truancy remains lower than state averages within the district: there were thirty-four chronically truant students enrolled during the 2020 school year—a rate of about four percent—compared with a statewide average close to ten percent according to ISBE.
