Diamond Lake School District releases superintendent’s mid-year update on progress

Diamond Lake School District 76 has released a mid-year update from Superintendent Dr. Erin Knoll, inviting families and community members to review the district’s progress and priorities for the remainder of the school year.

In her message, Dr. Knoll discussed how the district is using reflection at the midpoint of the academic year to improve student learning, growth, and well-being. She stated that these efforts are aligned with the district’s mission “to Embrace, Empower, and Excel Each Child Each Day.” The update highlighted progress in three main focus areas: Professional Learning Communities, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and Presence. Dr. Knoll also emphasized ongoing dedication to collaboration, maintaining a positive school climate, and supporting students.

Families were encouraged to engage with upcoming initiatives such as the launch of a Report Card Task Force aimed at increasing partnership between home and school.

Diamond Lake School District 76 serves Lake County and includes Fairhaven School, West Oak Intermediate School, and West Oak Middle School (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). According to recent data from the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 92 teachers with an average salary of $63,832 before pension contributions; 91.4 percent are women while 8.6 percent are men. Notably, no teachers in the district have recorded more than ten absences in a school year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

The student population in Diamond Lake School District 76 is diverse: 20.4 percent White, 2.8 percent Black, 68.2 percent Hispanic, and 5.3 percent Asian (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). In 2020, per-student spending was $27,115 for a total expenditure of $24,891,212 (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

Dr. Knoll said: “In this update I share how we are using mid year reflection to strengthen student learning, growth, and well being while remaining grounded in our mission to Embrace, Empower, and Excel Each Child Each Day.”

She continued: “Highlights include progress on our three priority focus areas Professional Learning Communities, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and Presence along with a continued commitment to collaboration, positive school climate, and student support.”

Families are encouraged by Dr. Knoll “to learn more about upcoming opportunities to partner with the district including the launch of a Report Card Task Force.”
