The DuPage County Republicans have commented on a recent city decision regarding reparations, raising concerns about the policy’s implementation and its impact.

The group said that a city which never had slavery, located in a state that also never had slavery, has passed a measure requiring people who never owned slaves to pay reparations to individuals who were never enslaved. The statement was made on their official social media account.

According to the DuPage County Republicans, “A City that never had slavery – and which exists in a State that never had slavery – just passed a measure that would force people who never had slaves to pay reparations to people who never were slaves. Then the same City promptly announces that they have no money to actually do this … so the only real result from this measure was to disappoint and toy with the stated beneficiaries of the measure. Progressive policymaking in a nutshell,” according to their post.

No additional background or details about the specific city or measure were provided in the statement.
