Fishing season will soon begin in Vernon Hills. The lakes managed by the Vernon Hills Park District are regulated by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Conservation officers from the DNR routinely check Big and Little Bear Lakes in Century Park.

Individuals who are 16 years or older must have a valid Illinois DNR fishing license to fish in these waters. All fishing activities in park district lakes follow a catch-and-release policy.

A statement from the Vernon Hills Park District reads: “Thank you for your cooperation and helping us maintain an enjoyable environment for everyone.”
