FOIA Request to Park City Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

We, at the Lake County Gazette, have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Park City seeking access to records of businesses registered with the city over the past week. Our request specifically asks for details in electronic format that include the business name, business number, business type, business address, issued date, status, and registered agent name.

As a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to these public records is crucial. It allows us to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency for our readers. In line with our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

Our efforts are supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This collaboration aims to enhance public understanding of government actions and promote an informed electorate.
