Granite City Community Unit School District #9 (GCSD9) has announced the closure of all its schools and the James J. Greenwald Administration Building on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day.

Summer school classes will resume on Friday, June 20. The GCSD9 Board Office will be open that same day from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM for enrollment and registration purposes. Additional information can be found on their enrollment website at https://www.gcsd9.net/registration.

The district expressed its well-wishes in a statement: “Thank you for your attention, and we hope you have a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth. “

Asimismo, el distrito comunicó lo mismo en español: “Gracias por su atención, esperamos que tengan un Juneteenth significativo y reflexivo. “
