Super Lunch Hero Day, celebrated each May, honors the hardworking school nutrition professionals who provide students with daily healthy meals. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of these individuals who play a crucial role in student well-being.

On May 2, Governor Josh Shapiro participated in celebrating these vital staff members at Halifax Area School District’s Middle School. During his visit, he engaged with learners about their lunchtime preferences and assisted the kitchen staff in preparing that day’s menu, which included walking tacos, cheeseburgers, fresh fruit, and salad.

Governor Shapiro expressed his gratitude by stating, “Our school nutrition specialists are essential to guaranteeing our children have the nourishment they require to be successful within and outside the classroom. “

First Lady Lori Shapiro also joined the celebration. She said, “School meals can be the most important food our youngsters consume daily. We’re commemorating everybody who ensures these dishes are nutritious and delicious for Pennsylvania’s learners. “

The event highlighted the significant impact school nutrition professionals have on students’ health and academic performance.
