LRS will be collecting non-artificial Christmas trees as organic material from January 2 to January 23 at no cost. The trees must be free of tinsel, ornaments, or lights and should not be placed in bags. Residents can leave their trees curbside or at the end of their driveway. Collection may not always occur on regular service days due to weather conditions, but LRS drivers and trucks will operate throughout the community until January 23. For more information, residents are encouraged to contact LRS at 844.633.3577.

The Park District is also offering a tree drop-off program through January 23 for trees without decorations, wires, or other materials. Drop-off locations include designated areas in the parking lots at Larry Fink Park (1377 Deer Creek Parkway) and Danny Cunniff Park (2700 Trailway). Trees collected here will be chipped and made available for resident use. Inquiries can be directed to Glenn Nance at 847.579.4175 or gnance@pdhp.org.

Holiday lights can be recycled at the Highland Park Recycling Center every Tuesday and on the first Saturday of each month between 7 AM and 1 PM at 1180 Half-Day Road. Additional details about recycling options are provided on the city’s website: cityhpil.com/recyclingcenter. Information about recycling items not accepted at this location is available on swalco.org.
