A new clothing and textile collection bin has been installed in Highland Park, offering residents a way to recycle unwanted items. The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) bin is now located in the northeastern corner of the shared parking lot for the Senior Center, Park Fitness, and The Preserve of Highland Park.

This initiative is a collaboration between the Park District, the City of Highland Park, and SWALCO. According to organizers, it aims to make it easier for community members to reuse and recycle clothing and textiles rather than sending them to landfills.

“The Park District is partnering with the City of Highland Park and SWALCO to bring a convenient way to reuse and recycle clothing & textiles, keeping them out of the landfill,” said officials.

The program accepts both new or gently used clothing as well as worn or stained items.
