Highwood Police respond to officer-involved shooting on Morgan Place

The Highwood Police Department announced on April 9 that officers responded to a call involving a suicidal individual in the 200 block of Morgan Place. The incident resulted in an officer-involved shooting after the subject reportedly approached police with a weapon.

Police said they were dispatched at approximately 4:47 PM following a 911 call. During their response, the individual confronted officers while armed and was subsequently shot. Officers began life-saving measures immediately, but the person died from their injuries.

The department confirmed that, as per protocol, the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force has been called in to conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.

Authorities stated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
