Construction has started at Keith Mione Community Park, according to a March 26 announcement. Fencing was installed to mark the beginning of the Keith Mione Community Park Renovation Project, which is supported by a $600,000 matching grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources through the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program.
The project aims to bring several new features and improvements to the 107-acre park. Planned enhancements include a multi-use asphalt pad designed for wheelchair football, basketball, and seasonal ice skating. In addition, there will be a creative play area, new trails for visitors, woodland restoration efforts, and expanded parking facilities.
Officials say these upgrades are intended to make the park more accessible and enjoyable for all community members. The improvements reflect ongoing efforts to enhance local recreational spaces while promoting inclusivity.
Updates on the renovation’s progress will be provided as work continues at Keith Mione Community Park.
