Lake County Sheriff’s deputies find body after home explosion

An adult male’s body was recovered from a home explosion that occurred on June 4 in the 23500 block of North Overhill Road in unincorporated Lake Zurich. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call.

Deputies were joined by the Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection District and multiple other fire departments who responded to the call at approximately 8:30 p.m. According to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release, the home was leveled when they arrived.

The 77-year-old homeowner was unaccounted for after the explosion, according to the same press release. The adult male whose body was recovered at the scene has not been identified. An autopsy was scheduled by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion continues with Lake County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigators, Lake Zurich Rural Fire District, and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
