Lake Forest College will inaugurate Dr. Michael “Mike” Sosulski as its 15th president on April 10, according to a March 31 announcement.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Sports and Recreation Center on the college’s South Campus at 555 N. Sheridan Rd., Lake Forest, Illinois. The event will include an academic procession and an address by President Sosulski, followed by a reception.

Dr. Sosulski began his role as president of Lake Forest College on August 11, 2025, after previously serving as president of Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland from 2021 to 2025. During his tenure at Washington College, he oversaw investments in student housing and sustainability initiatives, supported academic innovation, and helped increase both enrollment and philanthropic support.

Before joining Washington College, Sosulski was Provost and Professor of German at Wofford College where he led significant academic initiatives. He has also held faculty and administrative positions at Kalamazoo College.

Sosulski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in German from Georgetown University as well as a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Germanic Studies from the University of Chicago. His wife is Dr. Cori Crane, Associate Professor of German at the University of Alabama; they have two adult sons.

The Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Sosulski in July following a national search.
