Lake Forest School District 67 announced that students are exploring new foods and flavors across the district in celebration of National Nutrition Month.

The initiative aims to encourage healthy eating habits among students by introducing them to a variety of nutritious foods. The program is part of broader efforts to promote wellness and openness to trying new foods within the school community.

District 67’s Auxiliary Parent Teachers organization is bringing food tastings to all schools through a program called “Super Powers – Super Foods,” which connects nutritious eating to overall health and physical strength. On March 4, parent volunteers joined students in the District 67 Primary Middle cafeteria, offering samples of sweet potato fries and dried cranberries prepared by the district’s food service provider, Quest Food Management Services, according to the announcement by School District 67. Students also had the opportunity to sample mango the following week, with blueberries featured on March 18 as National Nutrition Month drew to a close. Through the tastings, students are encouraged to build healthy eating habits and an openness to trying new foods, according to the announcement by School District 67.

Founded in 1985, Quest Food Management Services develops chef-driven dining programs built around fresh, high-quality ingredients and personalized service. The company has earned a 98 percent partner retention rate and is recognized as one of the fastest-growing food service providers in the country. Quest works with clients to design programs tailored to their specific goals, covering areas such as menu planning, station layouts, staffing, technology, and marketing. Teams of chefs, dietitians, and service staff work together to deliver dining experiences aimed at meeting nutritional goals and reflecting the preferences of the communities they serve, according to Quest Food Management Services.

School District 67 serves approximately 1,600 students in grades Pre-K through 8. The district includes three elementary schools—Cherokee Elementary (K-4), Everett Elementary (K-4), and Sheridan Elementary (Pre-K-4)—as well as Deer Path Middle School (5-8). Known for its innovative instructional practices, District 67 emphasizes inclusive education and personalized learning experiences that support academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. The district’s mission is to inspire and empower students to maximize growth and cultivate respect for others in a dynamic, safe learning environment, according to Lake Forest Schools.
