Nominations are now open for the Lake Zurich High School Distinguished Alumni Recognition award. The award seeks to honor graduates who have made notable contributions in their fields or through service to the community, country, or world.

To be eligible, nominees must have graduated from Lake Zurich High School at least ten years ago. Additional criteria include modeling high standards of excellence in personal or professional life, making outstanding contributions through volunteer service or to their communities, and reflecting the district’s mission values such as academic excellence, accountability, collaboration, equity, integrity, perseverance, and respect in their post-secondary experiences.

“Nominations due by Friday, August 22nd (at midnight)!!” reads the announcement.

Inductees will be recognized during the Homecoming football game and will have their photographs added to the Distinguished Alumni Wall at Lake Zurich High School. “Inductees will be honored at the Homecoming football game and will have their pictures added to our Distinguished Alumni Wall at LZHS!”

Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 serves several schools in Lake County, including Lake Zurich High School and multiple elementary and middle schools (source). The district is composed of a student body that is 78.5 percent White, 1.3 percent Black, 7.5 percent Hispanic, and 9.5 percent Asian (source). According to recent data from the Illinois State Board of Education, there are 403 teachers employed in the district with an average salary of $76,420; women make up 77.5 percent of teaching staff while men account for 22.5 percent (source). In fiscal year 2020, per-student spending was $24,707 for a total expenditure of $136,949,848 (source).
