Lakeview students connect with Antarctic scientists to learn about Adélie penguins

Lakeview School students recently had the opportunity to interact live with scientists in Antarctica, focusing on Adélie penguins. This event was made possible through support from the Zion Elementary School District 6 (ZESD 6) Technology Department. During the session, students asked questions and observed penguins in their natural habitat.

The Zion Elementary School District 6 includes several schools within Lake County, such as Beulah Park Elementary School, East Elementary School, Elmwood Elementary School, Lakeview School, Shiloh Park Elementary School, West Elementary School, and Zion Central Middle School. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, ZESD 6 employs 164 teachers with an average salary of $58,629 before pension contributions. The teaching staff is composed of 83.3 percent women and 16.7 percent men. There are no teachers in the district with more than ten absences during a school year.
