Dr. Denise Wilcox announced a leadership change at Kenneth Murphy and Oak Crest Elementary Schools on Apr 28, 2025. Brianne Berry will no longer serve as the Assistant Principal at both schools, effective immediately.

“We are grateful for the dedication and service Brianne has provided to our students, staff, and families, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” said Dr. Wilcox.

To ensure consistent leadership during this transition, Alexa Young will assume the role of interim Assistant Principal at Oak Crest Elementary for the remainder of the school year. While Berry serviced both schools, Young will focus solely on Oak Crest. The District Office will support Kenneth Murphy on an as-needed basis for the rest of the school year.

Alexa Young brings significant experience to her new role. As an Instructional Coach at Beach Park Middle School, she has been instrumental in supporting staff with curriculum implementation, instructional practices, and student engagement strategies. Her background includes extensive work in tier-one instruction, data-driven decision-making, and fostering positive school cultures.

Dr. Wilcox expressed confidence in Young’s abilities: “We are confident that Alexa’s knowledge, passion, and steady leadership will provide Oak Crest Elementary with the support needed to finish the school year strong. “

Parents and families were thanked for their continued dedication: “Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and families. Should you have any questions or need additional support during this time of transition, please do not hesitate to reach out. “
