Lake Forest Community High School District 115 announced it will host a Spring Luncheon on Friday, May 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Knollwood Club, presented by the Lake Forest High School Foundation.
The luncheon will feature keynote speaker Sarah Spain, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning sports journalist with more than two decades of experience in the industry. Spain hosts the daily women’s sports podcast “Good Game with Sarah Spain” on iHeart, serves as Content Director of the iHeart Women’s Sports Network, and spent more than 15 years at ESPN focusing on women’s sports coverage, according to LFHS.
The Lake Forest High School Foundation provides funding for educational initiatives at Lake Forest High School through grants supporting students, faculty, and staff. Since 2002, the foundation has awarded over 290 grants totaling more than $2.2 million for projects such as Makerspace, Business Incubator, and 21st-century learning labs. It works with teachers, students, and administrators to review grant applications and allocate resources. Funding is supported by community donations, local business partnerships, and events like the annual spring luncheon. Grants have contributed to technology upgrades, collaborative learning spaces, and various academic and extracurricular programs at the school, according to its website.
Lake Forest High School was founded in 1935 as a public secondary school in Lake Forest, Illinois. It serves grades 9–12 for students from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood. Located at 1285 N. McKinley Road, the campus is home to the Scouts with royal blue and gold as its colors. The school emphasizes academic excellence; about 95% of students pursue higher education after graduation. Its culture values mutual respect and collaboration between students and faculty. Recognized as a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School, it carries the motto “Abeunt Studia in Mores,” or “pursuits become habits,” according to Lake Forest Schools.
Lake Forest Community High School District 115 serves about 1,500 students in grades 9–12 from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood. The district offers a wide curriculum including advanced placement courses and electives along with athletics and performing arts opportunities while emphasizing social-emotional growth and community service. Feeder schools include Deer Path Middle School and Lake Bluff Middle School among others. Districts 115 and 67 share services such as administration to improve efficiency and reduce costs according to Lake Forest Schools.
