Libertyville alum Justin Benes pitches as DePauw beats Grove City 12-9

Former Libertyville High School standout Justin Benes contributed on Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m., as his current college team, the DePauw Tigers, secured a 12-9 victory over the Grove City Wolverines in NCAA Division III baseball.

Walker Baseball Field hosted the contest, marking the teams’ second meeting of the season. In the earlier matchup on Saturday, March 14, the Tigers edged out the Wolverines 8-7.

Benes pitched three innings, allowing four earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Tigers are set to face the Earlham Quakers next on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. at Randal R. Sadler Stadium.
