Libertyville residents paid property taxes equal to 2% of their home values during the fourth quarter of 2025, a rate that is over 2.3 times higher than the national average, according to BlockShopper.com.

Data from 65 homes sold during that period show the median sales price in Libertyville was $589,000. For 2025, the city’s median property tax bill reached $11,865, indicating a 2% effective tax rate based on these median home values.

The average effective U.S. property tax rate in 2024 was 0.888%.

Within Lake County, Round Lake Park, Wadsworth, and Forest Lake had the three highest effective property tax rates.
