Lincolnshire Prairie View School District honors custodial staff on appreciation day

Custodial staff at Lincolnshire Prairie View School District 103 were recognized on October 2 for their ongoing efforts to maintain clean and safe learning environments. The appreciation comes as part of Custodian Appreciation Day, with district staff expressing gratitude for the custodians’ work in classrooms and common areas.

Eric Jonasson, District Director of Facilities, said, “Today District 103 celebrates our incredible custodial staff, whose hard work and dedication often go unseen but never unnoticed. They keep our schools safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and families every single day. Beyond their daily responsibilities, they show kindness, care, and pride in everything they do, helping to create an environment where learning and community can thrive. We are deeply grateful for their commitment and the countless ways they support our school—today and every day, we honor and appreciate them.”

The district includes Daniel Wright Junior High School, Half Day School, and Laura B. Sprague School within Lake County (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). According to the Illinois State Board of Education data from 2020-2021 (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), the district spent $26,851 per student that year with a total expenditure of $50 million.

Demographic information shows that the student population is nearly evenly split between White (45.6 percent) and Asian (48.4 percent) students; Black students make up 0.5 percent while Hispanic students account for 3.6 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The teaching staff consists of 151 teachers with an average salary of $76,028 before pension contributions; most are women (85.1 percent), according to state records (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

District officials highlighted the important role custodians play in supporting both educational activities and daily operations.
