Motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run crash; investigation ongoing by Lake County authorities

Lake County Sheriff’s investigators are examining a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle that occurred overnight. The crash took place on July 19, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m. Deputies responded to the scene on Route 173 near Crawford Road in Old Mill Creek after receiving reports of a traffic crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, deputies found the driver of a 1993 Kawasaki Ninja, identified as a 54-year-old man from McHenry, suffering from serious injuries. According to preliminary findings, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Route 173 when an unidentified vehicle struck him from behind. This collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control and crash.

The injured motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening. Investigators have recovered parts from the vehicle involved in the crash and are working to identify its make and model. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team continues to investigate the incident.
