Mundelein will hold its annual Village-wide Spring Clean Up during the weeks of April 28 and May 5, 2026. The event allows residents to dispose of household items and other refuse at no extra cost on their regular garbage collection day.

Residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to get rid of large items that do not fit into standard trash cans. Items must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. and should not exceed 50 pounds per item so that they can be easily handled by one person.

Acceptable items for collection include household debris from basements, toys, boxes, old clothing, couches, chairs, desks, outdoor furniture, beds, tables, seasonal decorations, sports equipment, microwaves, small appliances, yard equipment such as lawn mowers (if drained), snow blowers (if drained), and leaf blowers (if drained).

Certain items will not be collected during the Spring Clean Up. These include refrigerators or freezers containing Freon unless refrigerants have been removed and the appliance is properly tagged; yard waste; electronics such as televisions and computers; oil, gasoline, chemicals or fuel containers; paint; tires; asbestos; railroad ties; large quantities of construction debris; rocks or concrete; and any items that can be recycled in the curbside recycling program. Large appliances like stoves or washing machines require scheduling a separate pickup with Groot.
