Mundelein High School names 61 seniors as Illinois State Scholars

Mundelein High School has announced that 61 seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars for the 2025-26 academic year. The recognition is given by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to graduating high school seniors who show strong academic achievement and potential for success in higher education.

According to the announcement, “This prestigious award, granted by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), identifies graduating high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and exceptional potential for success in higher education.”

The Illinois State Scholar Program selects students based on a combination of ACT or SAT scores, class rank, and Grade Point Average from their sixth semester of high school. “These students are among the top academic performers across nearly every high school in Illinois, standing out for their hard work and dedication,” the release stated.

“Being named a State Scholar is a significant accomplishment that marks a high point in the academic careers of these students,” according to Mundelein High School.

Mundelein Consolidated High School is part of Lake County’s District 120. More information about this district can be found at https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/. The district employs 130 teachers with an average salary of $91,610 before pension contributions. Women make up just over half of the teaching staff, and no teacher has more than ten absences per year. Additional demographic data shows that District 120’s student body is about 41 percent White, 45 percent Hispanic, nearly six percent Asian, and just over two percent Black. In 2020, spending per student was $29,799 with total expenditures reaching over $61 million.
