During the fourth quarter of 2025, North Barrington homeowners paid property taxes equal to 2% of their home’s value, a rate that is more than 2.3 times higher than the national average, BlockShopper.com reports.

Data show that the median sales price for a home in North Barrington was $828,750 for the fourth quarter of 2025, calculated based on the 10 properties sold. The median property tax bill for the city that year was $16,742, which is 2% of the median home value taxed.

The average effective property tax rate in the U.S. was 0.888% in 2024.

Within Lake County, the highest rates were found in Round Lake Park, Wadsworth, and Forest Lake.
