Prairie Retail Holdings, LLC has withdrawn its application to amend the Libertyville Zoning Code and seek a special use permit for an adult-use cannabis dispensing organization, according to a March 4 announcement.
The withdrawal means that the proposal to add adult-use cannabis dispensing organizations as a special use in the C-4 Shopping Center Commercial District will not be considered at the upcoming Village Board meeting. The meeting, scheduled for March 10 at Village Hall on 118 W. Cook Avenue at 7:00 p.m., will proceed as planned without discussion of this item.
Prairie Retail Holdings had initially applied for two changes: a text amendment to Section 26-5-5 of the zoning code and a special use permit for property located at 1195 S. Milwaukee Avenue. Both requests were related to allowing an adult-use cannabis dispensary within the shopping center commercial district.
Residents interested in following major development updates can visit the planning page provided by the village. Village Board agendas are also available online for those seeking more information about upcoming meetings and topics under review.
The decision by Prairie Retail Holdings removes consideration of this particular cannabis dispensary from immediate village proceedings, but future proposals may still arise as regulations and community interests evolve.
