Grass Lake School District 36’s outstanding school debt reached $5,717 as of fiscal year 2024, according to the Illinois State Board of Education, or about $3,248.3 per student.
Grant Community High School District 124 had the third lowest outstanding school debt among Lake County school districts as of fiscal year 2024, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
School districts in Lake County carried over $1.3 billion in long-term debt in fiscal year 2024, with some using more than 28.5% of their legal borrowing capacity.
