President Obama recently signed the Protecting Affordable Coverage for Employees (PACE) Act into law, a measure U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Dist. 14) co-sponsored.

The PACE Act provides an important fix to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), maintaining  the definition of the small-group insurance market and preserving flexibility for states and mid-market employers.

The PACE Act keeps the definition of a small group at 50 employees or less instead of changing the definition to 100 employees or less, which would have occurred as of Jan. 1, 2016.

“The PACE Act is the latest in ACA fixes the House has proposed that this administration has acted on,” Hultgren said. “We need to continue to give states the flexibility to do what’s best for the people who live there and offer employers more certainty and better tools to most effectively run their businesses. This is a win for the State of Illinois, for small and mid-market companies in the 14th Congressional District and the thousands of people they employ.”

Hultgren has introduced H.R. 3352, the State Health Care Options Act of 2015, which is a waiver bill for ACA that would allow states to build their own alternatives to ACA plans, offering Americans more options other than the rising premiums and limited plan options of the ACA.

Born and raised in Illinois, and having spent more than 15 years serving Illinois and its citizens at multiple levels of government, Hultgren represents McHenry, Lake, Kendall, Kane, DuPage, DeKalb and Will counties, which make up the 14th Congressional District.
