Wadsworth annexes 11 acre property, inks IGA with Beach Park

Wadsworthsign

The Village of Wadsworth Board held its regular meeting Oct. 20 at Village Hall.

After a brief public hearing, the village approved the annexation of a 10.85 acre property on Dilleys Road owned by James and Linda Onan. The property had been part of the unincorporated Warren Township.

Continuing a countywide trend of villages and cities consolidating and sharing services, the board approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Beach Park for stormwater facility maintenance. Many Lake County communities have been partnering to lower the cost of services as the burden of the state's financial crisis continues to lean on smaller towns.

Village Administrator Moses Amidei said Wadsworth is looking into another agreement with Beach Park for building code enforcement services. Any proposal will be brought before the board.

Amidei is also working with Trustee Ben Dolan to map the streetlights in the village. Amidei said the goal is to identify unnecessary lights that could be eliminated and to replace the bulbs with more efficient LED lights that would save the village from replacing ballasts each year since LED lights don't require them. As it stands, the village's streetlights collectively produce a monthly electric bill of several thousand dollars.
