Standstrong

The Stand Strong Coalition recently received a $625,000, five-year grant from the Office of the National Drug Control Policy to support its work on underage drinking, marijuana use and prescription drug abuse.

The group has worked with local police, government and the Lake County Underage Drinking and Drug Prevention Task Force to advocate for social host ordinances that make it illegal to provide an environment for underage drinking.

Stand Strong is also responsible for Catalyst group, which is comprised of 80 students who have committed to a drug- and- alcohol-free lifestyle while in high school. The program includes peer-to-peer support groups and leadership training for the students in the group.

The group also facilitates educational panels and community discussions.
