The Highwood Committee of the Whole considered the city's 2015 tax levy at their meeting Dec. 1.
The levy would cover city expenses as well as payments on a number of bonds.
Some committee members were concerned about the addition of $40,000 above the amount originally recommended. After some discussion, the committee decided to table action on the levy until city staff could provide more information on how the additional funds would be used.
There were no comments on the levy from the public.
The committee also discussed a transition in the provider of commercial solid waste collection services, switching from Groot Industries Inc. to Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) LLC. LRS officials said the only noticeable change from current services would be the invoicing that would begin Jan. 1.
The committee did not take any action on the issue other than heeding a recommendation to seek city attorney approval before authorizing the agreement.
Alderman Mike Fiore and Alderman Brad Slavin were absent.
